WHAT IS THE ART HUNGER?
The Art Hunger is an artist-driven initiative founded in 2020 with a simple yet powerful mission: to create connections through art.
Based in Redding, CA, we transform spaces into vibrant hubs for local artists to showcase their work, from pop-up shows to gallery exhibitions. By collaborating with local organizations and businesses, we celebrate artistic diversity and inclusion, making art accessible to everyone.
Since our inception, we’ve hosted over 50 exhibitions, showcasing the work of hundreds of artists and selling thousands of original artworks. Highlights include Art OUTside: a celebration of LGBTQ+ artists, Final Fridays: A Maker's Market and The Summer Gallery at the historic IOOF Hall, and collaborations with organizations like Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Viva Downtown Redding and the Shasta County Arts Council.
Our impact extends beyond art. We’ve helped revitalize Downtown Redding, fostered a stronger sense of community, and provided a platform for emerging and underrepresented artists to thrive. While we’re not a non-profit, we operate with a community-first mindset, donating our time and resources to ensure our events remain free or low-cost for artists and the public.

We achieve that by creating opportunities to showcase their work and fostering a vibrant creative community and by being committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the arts, ensuring that everyone has access to the transformative power of creativity.

The Art Hunger envisions a vibrant, inclusive arts community where artists are celebrated, empowered, and equipped to thrive.
Through partnerships and placemaking, we will establish Redding as a center for artistic innovation and cultural connection.
Leadership
The Art Hunger does not have a formal Board of Directors. Instead, leadership is guided by a dedicated group of artist and advisors who bring diverse knowledge, skills, and expertise to help steer the organization toward a vibrant and sustainable future.
